Secondhand in Khon Kaen: the hub of Isaan
Khon Kaen is a university city and Isaan's distribution hub, so its secondhand market follows the academic calendar closely, and buyers come from neighbouring provinces more often than people expect.

The calendar that sets prices city-wide
At the start of terms (June and November) demand for fans, small fridges, desks, mattresses, bicycles and cheap motorcycles peaks for the year. Items sell fast with little haggling.
During breaks and at the end of the academic year (March to May) the reverse happens — everything hits the market at once. As a buyer this is the best time for prices; as a seller, list two or three weeks ahead of everyone else.
For student-market items, photograph the real condition and say whether the buyer can carry it upstairs themselves, since many dormitories have no lift.

- Mittraphap Road and the downtown malls: neutral ground for working buyers, with parking and cameras.
- Bang Lamphu market and the municipal area: household goods, kitchenware and vendor equipment.
- Ban Thum and the outskirts: low-rise housing, suited to large furniture and small farm equipment.
Buyers from nearby provinces
Khon Kaen is where people from Maha Sarakham, Kalasin, Chaiyaphum, Udon Thani and Roi Et come to buy. Saying "can ship" or "can send by intercity bus" visibly increases enquiries.
Sending goods with an intercity bus is still widely used for fragile or oversized items. Agree clearly who pays the freight, and photograph everything before packing.
For expensive items shipped between provinces, use cash on delivery or payment after arrival, and keep the shipping evidence until the sale is closed.

- Small dorm appliances: fans, rice cookers, electric hobs.
- Used vending equipment such as chest freezers, gas burners and carts for food stalls and night markets.
