Thingyan and Myanmar's seasonal secondhand calendar
Thingyan, Myanmar's New Year water festival in mid-April, is the longest holiday of the year. Travel and spending peak around it, and the hot season and rains follow, so what sells changes clearly through the year.

Before and after Thingyan
Before the holiday, people raise cash to travel home, so more phones and electronics are listed, while waterproof cases and water guns sell well.
Couriers and bus cargo stop or slow during the holiday, so finish deals that need shipping beforehand. For face-to-face deals on electronics, bring a waterproof bag.
What sells in each season
- Hot season (March–May): air conditioners, air coolers, fans, generators, inverters
- Rainy season (June–October): raincoats, waterproof shoes, dehumidifiers, motorbike tyres
- Cool, dry season (November–February): bicycles, camping gear, clothing and decorations for weddings and festivals
- School start (around June): uniforms, bags, student desks, laptops
Tips for sellers
List seasonal items two to three weeks before demand arrives to sell close to full price. Prices fall right after a season ends; if you have storage space, waiting for the next season is an option.
